At Mercy Technology Services, giving is just how we’re wired. Case in point: Dr. Jason Dausman, MTS' director of clinical informatics, donated his time and talents in recent months to partner with Ethiopia Act, a non-profit organization that provides health care and ministry in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Ethiopia Act focuses on the less fortunate who are impacted by HIV/AIDS, cervical cancer and tuberculosis. “Our mission is more than just providing well-rounded care,” said Dr. Dausman. "We focus on empowering members of the community to work with families year-round and to support public health strategies in the community at large.”
To date, Ethiopia Act has provided care for more than 2,600 families in a country where over 1.2 million people are living with HIV and AIDS. This support group has a special focus on families – mostly women and children – who are alienated from their communities and tribes.
"The organization is centered around a hard-working group of Ethiopians committed to helping members of their community every day,” said Dr. Dausman. "With love, compassion and the work of Ethiopia Act members, our group helps less fortunate families become healthy, productive members of society.”
Dr. Dausman has been assisting communities overseas for more than 22 years. His travels range from Haiti to Afghanistan. Currently, he’s looking forward to his next trip, which he believes will be to South Africa.
